Assistant Prof Nagihan Haliloglu

Nagihan Haliloğlu is an Assistant Professor at the Alliance of Civilizations Institute in Istanbul where she teaches courses on multiculturalism and cultural history. She has an MS in Oriental Studies from the University of Oxford, and a PhD in English from the University of Heidelberg. Her doctoral thesis 'Narrating from the Margins: Self-Representation of Female and Colonial Subjectivities in Jean Rhys's Novels' was published in 2011 from Rodopi. She has also published several papers and given talks on narrative and identity, modernism, urban history, secularism and contemporary Turkish literature.
On 27 November 2015, LCSS has successfully organised a roundtable at SOAS to discuss the recent Migrant Crisis
In August 2015, LCSS has successfully conducted the Training Programme on Ottoman and Archival Studies, which took place in London and Oxford.
