Mar 31, 2004 11:00

Ertanch Hidayettin

This seminar was organised by the London Centre for Social Studies (LCSS). It was the first of the LCSS 2004/2005 seminar series.

In this seminar Ertanch Hidayettin has talked about equal opportunity in employment, equality of access for service users, equal outcomes (results rather than intentions), equal representation and equal share.

Ertanch Hidayettin pointed out that minorities are consisted of women and the young and the old and the lack of education and job for their improvement. There has been an obvious need of leaders in the UK and the European countries to set a good example of minorities.

Then he mentioned about the legal acts promoting equality and diversity which are:

  • •Sex Discrimination Act (1975)
  • •Race Relations Act (1976)
  • •RRA Amendment (2000)
  • •Disability Discrimination Act (1995)
  • •Human Rights Act (1998)
  • •EU directives on Religion and Sexuality (2003) and Age and (2006)

He concluded his talk by mentioning Promoting Equality Monitoring Tools and stressed on our role in this action.
