
Ferya Tas

Ferya started her MPhil/PhD in January, 2011 under the supervision of Professor Maleiha Malik. She obtained her LLB degree from the University of Istanbul in 2004 and her LLM degree from the University of Exeter in International Business Law in 2009. Ferya has been a member of Istanbul Bar Association and a practicing lawyer since 2005.
Research
Ferya’s research lies in the areas of sexuality and gender inequality in Law in the Middle East in general, domestic violence and honour crimes in particular. Her socio-legal research focuses on the crimes of honour in the contemporary Middle East comparatively.
Ferya’s other research interests include gender studies, women in Muslim societies, family law and criminal caw in the Middle East, Islamic law, and human rights.
