Ali Bayindir (BA History, Harran University; MBA Cardiff Metropolitan University) is a final year PhD candidate in History at the University of Dundee, UK.
His research is based on the Ottoman and British archives and it focuses on Ottoman relations with Britain and France. Ali is currently writing up his thesis on Trade, Diplomacy and Transformation between 1757 and 1808. He has extensive experience of archival research in Turkey (Ottoman archives) and the UK (British Library, National Archives, Guildhall Archives, at Goldsmith, London Metropolitan, LSE, SOAS and various local libraries and archives) as well as experience of delivering workshops on Ottoman and Middle East studies and presenting papers at international conferences. Ali Bayindir will share his experience of using the UK archives and libraries and developing a productive research methodology applied to the Ottoman Empire and the Middle East Studies.
