Literary London Training Programme
May 31, 2016 10:00
A programme to gain a unique practical and academic perspective on London’s literary heritage. Held in partnership with King’s College London.
Literary London Training Programme
London Centre for Social Studies is delighted to announce the “Literary London Training Programme” held in partnership with King’s College London.
31 May – 4 June 2016
Literary London Training Programme will explore:
- The historic cobbled streets and Georgian terraces of London’s most prominent literary locations
- The places which inspired London’s literary elite
- Author’s homes, literary museums, and archives housing original manuscripts – such as Dickens’ ‘Oliver Twist’ and William Blake’s prints and poems
The programme is organised for English literature students and researchers at any level as well as literature lovers to help them gain a unique practical and academic perspective on the city’s literary heritage.
We have organised specially curated seminars and workshops at King’s College London and at the London Centre for Social Studies on topics ranging from Shakespeare’s drama to eighteenth century poetry and modern absurdist drama.
From the leafy squares of Virginia Woolf’s Bloomsbury to the grimy alleys of Dickens’ Southwark, the study of English Literature takes you on a journey of discovery. You will also get the opportunity to visit some of London’s most famous bookshops and literary coffee shops, watch a Shakespeare play at the Globe, a contemporary musical in the West End, and experience the beautiful Westminster Cathedral and the bloodily entertaining London Dungeon.
