Nicola Wake is Senior Lecturer in Law and Risk and Vulnerability research coordinator for the Centre for Evidence and Criminal Justice Studies at Northumbria University. Nicola’s research focus is on vulnerable offenders within the criminal justice system, and specifically those who have killed an abuser in response to long-term family violence. Nicola has organised and chaired national and international research conferences and events. She has published extensively and presented on the law relating to vulnerable offenders at both national and international level. Nicola is a member of the executive committee and council for the Society of Legal Scholars, and is a former Ross Parson’s Visiting Fellow at the University of Sydney. Nicola is also co-editor of Maxwell (formerly Ashgate Publishing) ‘Substantive Issues in Criminal Law’ series (2010-2020).
