
Prof Madeleine Arnot

Madeleine Arnot is Professor of Sociology of Education in the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge, and a Fellow of Jesus College and of the Academy of Social Sciences. She holds an Honorary Doctorate from Uppsala University, Sweden. She directed EU projects on gender and citizenship, and on adolescent masculinity and education. She recently completed a five-year project as international leader on Youth, Gender and Citizenship in Kenya, Ghana, India and Pakistan. Her publications include Reproducing Gender? (2002) Educating the Gendered Citizen (2008); Gender Education and Equality in a Global Context (2008); and, Education, Asylum and the ‘Non-Citizen’ Child: the politics of compassion and belonging (Palgrave MacMillan, 2010).
