Roundtable Discussion with Mr Kemal Yurtnac

On June the 23rd, 2012, LCSS team hosted a roundtable discussion with Mr Kemal Yurtnac with the executive team of the Department of Turkish Government for Turkish Communities Living Abroad at our office. With the participation of  academics from major UK Universities, the discussion concentrated around potential avenues for future collaboration opportunities in order to build academic bridges between the UK and Turkey. Projects to facilitate the integration of the Turkish Government funded postgraduate students into the UK Higher Education System were discussed. The needs of the university students in the UK with an immigrant background from Turkey and Northern Cyprus were also highlighted as potential areas for collaboration. The twenty guests who attended the meeting included Prof Ibrahim Sirkeci from Regent’s College, Dr Bilal Gokpinar from the Association of British and Turkish Academics (ABTA), and Dr Nevzat Simsek from the University of Oxford.
